SEE Oak-Tree Sanctuary Living Library
Donations and grants are needed for these projects:
Oak-Tree Sanctuary has several needs before it can fully become the SEE Oak-Tree Sanctuary Living Library. First it needs to become more visitor friendly and then expand:· A visitor center, with an office, rest rooms, conference room, library/computer reference area and a gift shop (proceeds from gift shop to fund ongoing work at the SEEOTSLL). Books and other publications, computers, copier, furnishings, etc. will be needed to complete the visitor center. (Possible new modular home conversion as all heating/ plumbing/ lighting/ ventilation systems will be already installed saving time and money ) Estimated costs $35,000-40,000
· A barn must be built for hay and feed storage, with animal pens at one end and a work area in the middle, allowing the animals to get the care they need and providing an area for winter workshops. This new barn will be attached to the barn started in “2004”, where there is already electricity and running water. Estimated costs for barn and surrounding area $25,000
· The gardens need to be expanded: more containers, additional plants- including fruit and nut trees, more berries and edible landscapes, extended fencing and safe and easy access walkways that are handicap assessable with benches and a simple shade stations along the way. Pond improvements should be made and wood lot thinning for wild gardens. Expanded pasture area is also needed. The wood will be reclaimed for some of the building projects. Estimated costs for these projects $8,000
· Individual exhibition pens need to be built to provide shelter and safe containment of various small livestock species with additional walkways for public access. Estimated costs for these projects $5,000
· A better parking area with added gravel/stone with landscaping around the entrance points. The purchase of a midsize tractor with loader and attachments would do much of the initial work and would allow us to maintain the grounds, keeping expenses down and allowing work to be done when needed, compared to always having to hire a contractor and equipment to come in. Tractor with attachments, gravel and stone for parking area $20,000
· Funds will be needed for liability insurance prior to opening completed SEE Oak-Tree Sanctuary Living Library around $2,000
· Animal care including feed, bedding, vet and blacksmith work, pasture and fencing, training etc. for existing animals, plus a few more, estimated at $1,000 per month or per year $12,000
· Additional costs for special events, advertising and promotional publications, website, library and gift shop supplies will be researched once project is on its way!
ALL DONATIONS FOR THIS PROJECT ARE FULLY TAX DEDUCTABLE as it is sponsored by SEE a 501c3 non-profit organization.
